Poisson d’avril

A French joke.

Two cats were swimming across the English Channel – an English cat named One two three, and a French cat named Un deux trois. Which cat made it across the Channel first?

The One two three cat won, because the un deux trois cat sank.

Get it? Un deux trois quatre cinq…

Happy April Fool’s Day!

Hi, I’m going to France next year as an English Language Assistant. Just wanted to say hello and keep up the good work. I love that cat joke… I’ll hopefully start something like this up myself when I find our where my placement is.

    Good Luck in everything,

    Eleanor

Okay, this was weird…I just discovered your blog earlier this morning and emailed it to myself to remember to add it to my favorites…

Then this evening I saw and replied to your post on Expat France…

I happened to click on your bloglink in your post on Expat France and realized it was the very same blog that I was reading this morning and wanted to add to my favorites. That was bizarre…

Your April 1 joke was funny…especially because of the way you clarified it afterward. It made me laugh out loud at my desk.

    No, really…it did. :0)

Why is Jennie no longer in France?

I created this blog in September 2006 when I moved to France from Michigan to teach English. Many of the earlier posts are about my personal life in France, dealing with culture shock, traveling in Europe and becoming fluent in French. In July 2011, I relocated to Australia to start my PhD in Applied Linguistics. Although I am no longer living in France, my research is on foreign language pedagogy and I teach French at a university so these themes appear most often on the blog. I also continue to post about traveling and being an American abroad.
