Just another October 31st

I didn’t decorate for Halloween this year, didn’t buy any candy and didn’t carve a pumpkin. It really doesn’t feel like Halloween at all. But fall is definitely here.

David & I went to the marché this morning after stopping by the optician to order my new glasses and contacts (for a grand total of 16€! Thank you new mutuelle!)

Then we walked back home through the park and enjoyed our pain bio and Tamié.

This closed shop reminded me that I need to buy some new boots for winter, but I will probably have to wait until les soldes.

Goodbye October. Hello November.

Honestly, I’m so glad that, for the first time in YEARS, I wont be forced to hide from trick-or-treaters because I forgot to buy candy. Which happens every year. Because, unless you have kids, its too easy to forget when trick-or-treating is.
Although I keep half expecting little French kids to show up at my door asking for Frederic Cassel chocolates or glazed chestnuts

@Emmy: We have MGEFI as our new mutuelle. We used to have Mutuelle Existance and they were good too. Never had MGEN’s mutuelle, thankfully.

The leaves looks like Canada !

Almost no kid stopped by for candies in our neighborhood, which is pretty unusual. It was cold, but I’m sure it’s because of the stupid H1N1 scare.

Lovely,lovely Fall colors in your pics ! I have always felt that Halloween felt odd celebrated in France.
I’ve seen the popularity of it go up & down…several years, the vendors at our boulangerie all with châpeaux de sorcières ! We have had some children also years past but this year zilch.

Jennie, I have a question for you; I know you’re really knowledgeable on how things work here! I’m requesting a certificat de non engagement for my PACS process and I was told that I would need to submit a copy of my birth certificate – translated. I’m not sure, but I was wondering if France requires some sort of licensed/certified translator to translate documents? Or can I submit a translation on my own (done by my partner who is fluent in French)? Or is there a translator who you would recommend? Can you let me know?
