Christmas Spirit

December 10th, 2007 · 5 Comments

So France doesn’t go crazy with Christmas decorations like the US does, so I’ve been having a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit this year. We finally bought some decorations this weekend so I feel a little better. Garland (guirlande), lights (guirlande électrique), card (carte) from Teresa, poinsettia plant from Jessica, and Joyeux Noël banner!

I also put snowman (bonhomme de neige) stickers on the windows that the cat constantly tries to attack, and there’s a wreath (couronne) and stocking (bas or botte) in the kitchen. Sadly, we have no Christmas tree (sapin de Noël). At least, not yet!

We finally got a tree and I even bought an old Christmas CD to listen to while I decorated by myself.

We bought our tree yesterday… decorating will be tonight! And I also put on my Christmas CDs to get into the spirit. Makes me feel like I’m home decorating with my family… or at least a little less far away.

We picked up a Christmas tree on Sunday morning… I really hesitated as to whether I would get a real tree this year, but the traditional side of me had my heart set on it. I didn’t get one last year, and I think I really missed it — it just does something really nice to a room, adds that special feeling and puts me in a good mood. But I’m going to be sure to pick up one of the biodegradable bags to recycle the tree in, because I definitely don’t want it to just be thrown out.

And I also put on Christmas music while decorating the tree Sunday night! :-)

We got our tree at the markets on the weekend – I love it. But can anyone tell me how the bags work. I saw them at the Monoprix yesterday. So I put it in the bag – then where do I put it? DO they have special bins for them?

You are right…the Americans do go crazy with Christmas Decorations, but it only happens one time a year right? I think your room looks quite festive. Now, fill it with some Holiday music and you’ll get in quite the mood!
