Dreaming of a White Christmas…

Il a neigé sur Chambéry hier ! / It snowed in Chambery yesterday!


The parking lot yesterday when the snow started


The parking lot this morning


Someone didn’t know what to think about the white flakes


My poor little car (the roads and sidewalks are not salted or cleared at all)


I tried to make Canaille walk in the snow – he didn’t like it


But the birds apparently did


We also received presents with the snow!

The forecast says 50° F / 10° C and rain for Tuesday, so I don’t think we’ll actually have a white Christmas. I’m really jealous of people in the mid-Atlantic states. I want 20 inches of snow!!!

    I’m jealous of the mid-Atlantic too! We got snow in NC for about a minute, but it was raining too. There is a magic line about 40 miles northwest of here that the snow rarely crosses. :(

    I’m jealous of the mid-Atlantic too! We got snow in NC for about a minute, but it was raining too. There is a magic line about 40 miles northwest of here that the snow rarely crosses. :(

    Can’t say Im thrilled about the weather, the Christmas market here, or the store crowds. Tired of the gloomy skies and freezing weather already. I’d rather be in Florida or California for the holidays. Bah Humbug! I hope you have a Merry Christmas though. Your cold Chambery neighbor, Cynthia

Why is Jennie no longer in France?

I created this blog in September 2006 when I moved to France from Michigan to teach English. Many of the earlier posts are about my personal life in France, dealing with culture shock, traveling in Europe and becoming fluent in French. In January 2010, I started focusing more on teaching and learning languages in general. In July 2011, I relocated to Australia to start my PhD in Applied Linguistics. Although I am no longer living in France, my research is on foreign language pedagogy and I teach French at the university so these themes appear most often on the blog. I also continue to post about traveling (though now my trips are usually in Australia) and being an American abroad.
