Great weekend

March…

There are only 4 weeks of class left before the spring vacation. Then I work for 2 weeks and 1 day and I am finished! I do enjoy teaching, but I’m starting to feel restless for this summer to arrive. Luckily the weather has been mild this winter, but I am dying for some hot […]

Bonne Année !

So much has happened in the past two months. I spent Christmas and New Year’s in France with my boyfriend’s family. My vacation was a little hectic because I got sick twice and I even missed the first week back at work in January because I had a horrible flu. But I did manage to […]

I can’t believe it’s almost December. The past 2 months have flown by. I’ve already received my second paycheck and there are only 3 more full weeks of class before Christmas vacation. Salzburg, Austria

This past weekend I went to Salzburg with a few other assistants. We rented a car and drove there and it took 12 long hours. But Austria was just as beautiful as I remembered it. I would love to live in the Austrian countryside someday. Attempting to speak German after not studying it for 5 […]

Vacation already?

I have two weeks of vacation coming up: les vacances de Toussaint. I don’t work again until November 6. I don’t know if I’ll go anywhere since I still haven’t been paid, but it’s nice to have a vacation already! I might go to Grenoble to visit a friend, or maybe Lyon because I’ve heard […]

Why is Jennie no longer in France?

I created this blog in September 2006 when I moved to France from Michigan to teach English. Many of the earlier posts are about my personal life in France, dealing with culture shock, traveling in Europe and becoming fluent in French. In July 2011, I relocated to Australia to start my PhD in Applied Linguistics. Although I am no longer living in France, my research is on foreign language pedagogy and I teach French at a university so these themes appear most often on the blog. I also continue to post about traveling and being an American abroad.
